When a pet emergency happens, the first few moments matter. These courses are designed to help each audience recognize problems quickly, respond appropriately, and support better outcomes until veterinary care is reached or activated.
Each course is tailored to the responsibilities, setting, and response role of the audience.
Pet First Aid for Dog & Cat Owners-This course is designed for everyday pet owners who want to know what to do when a dog or cat becomes suddenly ill or injured before veterinary help is reached. Students will learn how to recognize common emergencies, respond safely, provide simple first aid, and make sound decisions under pressure. This class focuses on practical, non-clinical skills for home and everyday settings and is not a substitute for veterinary care.
Pet First Aid for Professional Pet Care Providers– This course is designed for people who care for pets as part of their work or service outside of the veterinary clinic setting. Students will learn how to recognize emergencies, provide immediate first aid, manage incidents professionally, communicate clearly with pet owners and veterinary staff, and safely prepare an animal for transport when needed. This class goes beyond basic owner knowledge by preparing pet care providers to respond responsibly and confidently in real-world situations.
Pet First Aid for Veterinary Support Staff– This course is tailored for veterinary support staff who may be involved in the early recognition, triage, and initial support of canine and feline emergencies in a clinical environment. Students will strengthen their ability to assess urgent situations, support stabilization efforts, assist with basic emergency response skills, and function effectively within clinic protocols and team roles. This class is ideal for those who need a stronger hands-on emergency response foundation in a veterinary setting.
Note: Skills are taught for team-based clinical support and must be applied according to clinic policy, supervision requirements, and applicable state regulations.
Veterinary CSR Emergency Intake & Response– This course is designed for veterinary front-desk personnel who may be the first to hear, see, or respond to a canine or feline emergency in person or over the phone. Students will learn how to recognize red-flag emergencies, gather key intake information, communicate clearly under pressure, prioritize urgent cases, support safe arrival and handoff, and activate the clinical team quickly and appropriately using clinic-approved procedures. This class focuses on recognition, response, communication, and escalation rather than hands-on medical treatment, helping front-desk staff function confidently and effectively during critical situations.
Note: Duties and permitted actions may vary by clinic policy and state regulations.
All courses emphasize:
• Emergency recognition
• Safe response principles
• Communication and escalation
• Transport readiness or clinical handoff, as appropriate to the role
Skills taught vary by audience, setting, clinic policy, and response responsibilities.
